In honor of Russell Neeleman our late Twangled team rider, friend & neighbor, we have posted an old Great Lakes Watercross download from Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin from back in 06' featuring Russ airing out some massive ball-busters & superman kick outs during an Amateur freestyle competition - HE WON.

Greg Brock called me last night with horrible news from camp Twangled. While riding his orange & black 2004 freestyle built Super Jet on Lake Marie in Antioch, Illinois around 6:30 Sunday evening, Russell Neeleman was struck by a powerboat. Russ suffered blunt head trama and severe injuries to his leg and arm. Neeleman was taken to Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry where he was later pronounced dead.
Having known Russ for more than 5 years now, I realize that we lost a great member of our community. Russ was an honest, hard-working young man that greatly enjoyed freestyle jet skiing and motocross. He was a local roll-model for neighborhood kids & always willing to help out. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and long-time girlfriend.
This happened where we all --- and I do mean all --- have been riding for years. A little nook tucked away off the beaten path of the major traffic flow of a very busy system of lakes. The freestyle spot was thought to be a safe haven of sorts from swiftly moving vessels as it is shallow and surrounded on 3 sides by land and no wake areas.

I came across this heart-felt video from Erik Buell in regards to the closing of Buell Motorcycles. There is no doubt that it won't be long before we are hearing about a new Erik Buell and team innovation, but it won't be on a Buell Motorcycle. The video came after Harley-Davidson, Inc. announced that it will discontinue the Buell® product line as part of Harley-Davidson’s go-forward business strategy. The new long-term strategy aims to drive Company growth through a focus of efforts and resources on the Harley-Davidson® brand.

I stopped by one of my local Motor sports shops the other day. As I drove past all the Street Bikes, Dirt Bikes, Quads and watercraft I wondered how sales of the items were doing. This is a good sized dealer with good solid brands like Yamaha,Sea Doo, Artic Cat and others. As I walked into the office of my friend Rich the manager I asked him how sales were holding up in these challenging times. Both he and his salesman looked at me and shook their heads no.

Now Anyone Can Experience the Thrill
of Driving a Race Boat
Boat racing in America goes back to the turn of the last century, and the American Power Boat Association is the organization that has provided leadership to the sport since 1903.
But never before has the APBA taken such an active role in making boat racing available to racing enthusiasts who want to see if boat racing is for them.
“Making it possible for more people to experience the thrill and excitement of boat racing has to be an important part of our mission,” said Mark Weber, President of the APBA. “I was lucky enough to grow up in a family of boat racers. I didn’t need to find a way to see if it was the sport for me.”
To accomplish this goal, APBA is announcing a program called “The Ride of a Lifetime”– the American Power Boat Association Driving School.
Featuring four separate types of race boats—Junior Class outboard hydroplanes, C Stock hydroplanes, powerful 5 Litre Inboard hydros and SST 120 Tunnel hulls—the school includes classroom sessions and on-the-water driving conducted over a weekend.

I read a story on Newser the other day, and could not believe what I was reading. I found out that because of the lead content in the heat resistant paint that is used when painting engine parts mini bikes were currently banned from sale to the public. Not just min bikes all mini motorized vehicles mini quads, mini snowmobiles, scooters ant so on. It would appear that the main target was China. Chines imports of kids toys have received much attention lately. After speaking with a local dealer I was told that the ban is in effect, but the government was working with the manufacturer as they did not wish to target these products. Talk is the there will be special permit issued to allow sales to resume. To date there are no records of children eating the paint off the cylinder of their Honda CR50. Not Yamaha nor Kawasaki, Polaris or any other company has reported such problems. What is next seat belts in your daughters Barbie car?
